A10 PRO PLAYER PROFILING HELP
═════════════════════════════
PLAYER PROFILING has the capability to combine all the
principles in SYSTEMS ANALYSIS and A10 PRO TUTOR modes
and create computer operated players whose performance
can be seen in action in the CASINO SIMULATION module,
or graphed in GRAPHIC ANALYSIS.
DEFAULT VALUES:
You can avoid Player Profiling by pressing [Esc] early
in the piece. Default values for banks aren't meant to
imply that these are my recommended banks. They merely
serve as a starting point. In TUTOR Lesson 4 it is
shown that a $10,000 bank must have a $70,000 reserve.
Choose any bank between $0 and $100,000. At $100,000
you "Break the Bank" and are kicked out of the game !
The Default causes players to play a full table with
Basic strategy, no card counting, betting 123557T.
Select Manual or Empty (at the base of the columns) to
join in.
Whether profiling for game or graph the procedure is
basically the same. When the screen first appears use
the [Tab] key to select Start a New Game, or Restart a
Previously Saved Game. Press [S] or [R] to confirm.
Profiled auto players can be mixed in any combinations
with manual players.
Manual players need only their Start, Goal & Walk Bank
defined - any other options are ignored.
Empty boxes can be created, so you may play variations
from one-on-one with the Dealer to a full table. Empty
boxes, once confirmed, zero all values for their box.
If Starting a new game, you may then press [Tab] again
to begin Profiling. Press [Esc] at any time from then
on to enter the default values or your chosen values.
A confirm option allows you to change your mind.
The [Tab] key selects each Box. [Up] and [Down] arrows
select the attribute you wish to alter. Attributes are
highlighted in white on black.
Once an attribute is highlighted, the [Left] & [Right]
arrows change the displayed value. Help prompts appear
in the centre right panel to help you keep track. The
left panel highlights pressed keys and likely NEXT key
Programmable attributes are:
Start bank:
The Bank with which the player will begin play
cannot be adjusted when Restarting a Game.
(Never go to the Bank for more money when down !
When restarting a game, your present Stored Bank
becomes your Start Bank, and cannot be altered.
Goal bank:
Each player - as in real life - has a goal win.
If the Goal Bank is exceeded by more than the
current table minimum when playing, the Player
will continue. From then on, if his bank falls
to an amount less than his Goal Win plus Table
minimum, the Player stops. I strongly recommend
you play this way in real life.
When selecting a Goal Bank, Profile does not let
you select a value below the Start Bank.
If you are adjusting the Start Bank and have not
risen above the Goal Bank level, select the Goal
Bank by pressing the [Right] arrow. The Goal
Bank will jump to an amount above the Start Bank
and can then be adjusted at will. Overlook this
and the player will not play or only play until
he slips to Goal Bank level.
This is one way that you may Restart an old game
while continuing some players and store others.
Walk bank:
The Absolute Lowest Bank your player tolerates -
before quitting and cutting losses.
Cannot be adjusted below zero. (No credit !)
Walk Bank can't be rated above the Start Bank.
If you are Starting a new game adjust your
Start Bank below your Walk Bank level, select
your Walk Bank and press the [Left] arrow. The
Walk Bank will jump to below the new Start Bank
and can then be modified further, otherwise
your player will not be able to play.
ONLY GOAL AND WALK BANKS, AND NO OTHER ATTRIBUTES
CAN BE ADJUSTED WHEN RESTARTING A SAVED GAME.
The practice of setting these goals is vital to
your success at Blackjack. More detail is found
in Lesson 4 of A10 PRO TUTOR.
NOTE: If you intend to start players on even keel
in any bank entry:
First alter any player's bank, then press [Enter].
All players banks who fit the above conditions are
altered and displayed at the new bank level.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════
SKILL MODE:
Four levels of skill are available:
Basic:
Plays perfect Hit/Sit decision strategy with no
card counting. Strategy is explained in Lesson
two of A10 PRO TUTOR and can be viewed at any
time during play by pressing the [F3] Key.
Count:
Plays Hit/Sit Strategy modified by Card Counts.
Card Counts as in Parts 6 - 9 of A10 PRO TUTOR.
Custom:
Any Custom Players in the same group will play
by the selected Custom Strategy, while all other
players play their skill mode. Custom Strategies
are saved, recovered and altered after Profiling
in the Custom Strategy Selection module - active
when a player is profiled as CUSTOM SKILL mode.
Novice:
So many programmers say to me, "You cannot have
a genuine simulation unless you can simulate an
idiot at the table".
There are two fallacies to this thinking. Bad
players influence individual hands, but not
during long term play. An "idiot" can benefit
the game or disadvantage it.
It is possible to simulate an idiot. In fact, I
have programmed in all the errors I have seen
people make at Casinos. (It has always amazed
me how people not always on high incomes throw
money away at Casinos by trusting in luck). No
knowledge of the odds, or play theory - they may
as well burn their money.
LUCK INCREASES IN FREQUENCY, AND IS CREATED WHEN
PREPARATION MEETS OPPORTUNITY
I have made a list of all the errors I have seen
people make at Casinos and graded them from
frequent to rare, common to unusual. Even a
novice is quickly corrected by other players if
he tries to Sit on 14 vs a 10 - but many players
often sit on a 12 vs a 2, or Double on a 9 vs a
7... both of which are poor strategy !
Before a "novice" makes his move, the Computer
selects a random number. Common errors might be
made 4 out of 5 times, rare errors 1 out of 10,
based on random number generation.
This makes a "novice" player totally unreliable,
just as in real life! This profile serves as a
useful control to measure strategies against.
In the short term a "novice" may win as they
often do, at the Casino !
══════════════════════════════════════════════════
BET STYLE:
Six Betting Styles are available:
All styles select a Base bet according to the
principles explained in Lesson 4 of A10 PRO TUTOR,
except for Custom Players who may define their
base.
123557T -
This is my favoured strategy, and can be mixed
with any of the Card Strategy Selections.
The player will bet in a winning sequence:
1, 2, 3, 5, 5, 7, 10 times his base bet.
If a loss occurs during the sequence, the player
will return to 1, and the base bet is redefined
according to his new bank level.
If a player successfully completes the sequence
he will return to 1, and redefine the base bet.
Count 1 2 4:
This style is only available to Card Counters,
and Custom Strategy Players.
Personally, I have found better and spectacular
results with 123557T, but for a long while
before I developed that system I used this
method with quite reasonable success.
The player will calculate his base bet with the
same principles as each other player.
If he wins, and the count is +2 or higher, he
will double his bet.
He will continue to hold this bet level until he
wins and the count is +4 or more, in which case
he will quadruple his original base bet.
If he loses, he returns to a recalculated base.
If the count falls to +2 or less he will adjust
his bet accordingly.
Even Bets:
Once again, the same calculation for a Base bet
repeated. Base bet reset after a loss.
Random X:
Used as a control bet style to measure other
strategies against. Ideally combined with the
"novice" attribute to make a totally annoying
combination !
X is the figure you are prompted to enter after
all attributes are confirmed, and is the maximum
random bet the player will make.
X may exceed the Table Limit, but bets are always
adjusted down to the Table Limit. X cannot exceed
four figures.
1.2.4 Win:
This strategy is supplied because many players
believe they can simply double their bets each
time they win, and is intended as a control to
measure the efficiency of the 124 COUNT style.
It will allow you to see the inefficiency of a
staking method without other considerations.
Player bets his base bet first, doubles if he
wins, and double again if he wins yet again.
If he loses he returns to his base bet that is
recalculated to suit his current bank.
Custom:
When profiling all you need to do is select this
style. Later, after profiles are confirmed, you
may enter any system at all, spanning sequences
of up to 10 bets.
NAME:
Three name categories are available:
Box:
This is recognised by the computer as an auto
player, and the program will play this player
according to the attributes you have chosen.
The computer appends the Box Number to the name.
Manual:
During the game, the computer will pause to let
you input whatever Bet or Card Play you wish,
for a Manual Player.
The Computer ignores all other attributes for a
manual player, except Bank values. When profiles
are confirmed, you will be asked for a name for
the player of 8 letters or less
Empty:
When profiles are confirmed, all bank values are
zeroed, all attributes wiped and the Box is left
empty.
This allows you to decide how many players, from
1 to 7 you will need to play against the Dealer.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Using the attributes above it is possible to create 22
different combinations of preset profiles. Add Custom
Bets and/or Custom Strategy and choices are endless.
It is not necessary that a Custom Betting Player be a
Custom Strategy Player, and vice versa. Custom play or
bet attributes can be combined with preset strategies.
Custom Bet and Strategy Design - give infinite amounts
of variation, and the ability to program any system at
all - play it, test it, and graph it.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
DECKS and SHOES:
You may select 2, 4, 5, 6 or 8 decks to make up a shoe
I suggest choosing decks to suit your rule selection -
5 decks, Rules 1 (QLD), 4 or 8 decks (TAS), Rules 2...
Select how many shoes you will play - always decide in
advance before going to a casino, how long you intend
to play for, measured in time, or shoes played.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
CUSTOM BET PROFILING:
You may recover a previously saved betting strategy...
modify it or continue playing it.
To modify a strategy or create a new method, first key
in your base bet, expressed as a percent of your bank.
If you desire to start your Custom Bet Box on the same
footing as other preset profiles, who will bet 1/140th
of their bank, a figure of 0.7 per cent is required...
However, you may choose any figure from 1 to a 100 per
cent, for your base bet.
The left column refers to wins, the right to losses.
[Left] & [Right] Arrows alter the highlighted value.
[Up] and [Down] Arrows shift the highlight.
[Tab] toggles between the Win and Loss columns.
Each figure is a multiple of the base bet.
Your player will follow each bet command in sequence -
win or lose. In this way you can define any bet system
up to win or lose sequences of 10 bets.
If you key in a figure of "0.0" for any level, (except
for bet one) the player will return to Bet One at that
point in the sequence.
If the player completes a full sequence of 10 bets, he
will return to Bet 1.
Press [F3] to call up examples of sequences. However,
this will clear any work you have done until then.
[F1] provides specific help.
Press [Esc] to enter the programmed sequences.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
CUSTOM STRATEGY PROFILING:
As with Bet Profiling, you may recall previously saved
strategy profiles, modify them, save them etc.
Having recovered a strategy, or creating a new one, if
you decide to use another Rule variation as a template
to construct strategy, press the [Tab] key to choose a
new variation - but careful - this will clear all work
you have done up until that point !
Use [Left], [Right], [Up] and [Down] keys as you would
when selecting a logic test in SYSTEMS ANALYSIS. These
keys move the highlight around the screen.
Dealers Cards are defined at the head of columns.
Player's cards are referred to by rows - The top right
chart refers to hands which require no special play...
except Doubling. Rows in that chart refer to totals
of Player's hands - not necessarily two cards.
The lower left chart refers to the split play option -
split the first two cards, if they're a pair and play
them as separate hands. Pairs are listed as 22 to AA.
The lower right chart refers to soft totals and hands
which contain an Ace and therefore can be counted as 6
or 16, 7 or 17, etc... An Ace can be converted from 11
points to 1 point if the hand is over 21.
Once you have positioned the highlight, press:
[D] Double, [H] Hit, [S] Sit, [Alt + S] Split
and you have entered that strategy for that point that
is defined by Dealer's Card column, and Player's row.
STRATEGIES NOT ALLOWED UNDER THE RULES VARIATION YOU
HAVE SELECTED ARE REJECTED, AND YOU MUST TRY AGAIN...
The process can be repeated forever, and since holding
the [Alt] key and striking [S] for split, for instance
can be unwieldy when repeated, the program stores your
last strategy choice. Anytime you move the highlight,
press the [Space Bar] and your previous choice will be
repeated in the new position !
Press [F1] for general strategy help at an early point
in the module, or Custom Strategy Help once you begin.
Press [Esc] to confirm the displayed strategy as your
strategy. If you do not choose to modify strategy the
default strategies from the SYSTEM ANALYSIS module are
played by your custom players.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
"HOUSE RULES":
If you have Custom Designed a strategy - the rules you
select have become your "house rules".
Otherwise the screen is presented in a simpler fashion
and you may press the [Tab] key to select a Rules
type.
[F1] provides explanations of each rules variation.
[Esc] selects the displayed rules.
Each screen displays suggested strategy for each rules
as determined by the Systems analysis module.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Once you have completed player profiling - the program
will proceed to CASINO SIMULATION or GRAPHIC ANALYSIS,
depending on the route you chose to arrive at PROFILE.
